We had planned our delayed Christmas Lunch in February, but the country was still in lockdown. We finally managed to arrange a table at the Pipe & Lovers outdoor beer garden. The popular hospitality pop-up Breaking Bread returned to the Downs in Bristol after initially opening in July 2020, providing a unique dining experience for locals as well as a range of employment opportunities for the struggling hospitality industry. Thousands visited the pop-up tipi village during its first stint on The Downs, with a programme made up of guest kitchen takeovers, live music, live comedy, DJ residencies from local promoters and more.
